Hoys, Johann Leopold - attributed — Pompous clock with console

(Vienna 1713-1797 Bamberg) The protruding console is decorated with finely engraved bands and an elaborately engraved, openwork applique depicting "Quell mit Neptun"; the clock case stands on four volute feet and is richly decorated with blossom branches, openwork latticework, putto heads and vases, the front plate with pendulum cut-out, polished glass stones inserted in the number ring between the Roman hour numbers, in the middle above it a city coat-of-arms of Magdeburg cut out of silver sheet and engraved in front of a blued ground; clockwork with a week's running time, the lateral cord triggers the quarter-hour strike on two bells. Ebonised wood, ormolu. 101 x 43.5 x 22 cm. - Lit.
