Cornelis Schut (Antwerp about 1597-1655) was Master of the Antwerp Lukasgilde since 1618 and created numerous altarpieces for churches all over Belgium.

The influence of Peter Paul Rubens, with whom he collaborated for a while, is apparent in many of his works.

Particularly inventive and of the same high quality as the pictorial presentation is the garland of flowers with cherries and other fruits created by Daniel Seghers (Antwerp 1590-1661), who had been trained in flower painting by Jan Brueghel.

Mayrhofer (Oberneukirchen 1764 - 1832 Munich) was renowned as extremely precise flower painter.

Besides the artistic he also showed scientific interest in plants and published numerous botanical lithographs and an "Instruction manual to the flower drawing".

Also in the case of this still life he attached great importance to the exact reproduction of the various blossoms and fruits.

This portrait of a child by the hand of the princely Saxon court painter Richter (Altenburg around 1612-1667 Weimar) shows the first Duke of Jena-Saxony as a boy at the age of five in a magnificent red suit with gold borders and lace trimming.
