Description

Paris 1768

Oval lidded box with a portrait of a lady mounted in a chiselled gold frame.

The body of the box is made of Japanese Iacquer plates and the elaborate gold mounting shows the high appreciation of the exotic, Far Eastern culture.

The master's stamp is partially plastered over, the box is from J.J. Prévost (1762-1768) marked.

Length 8 cm.
