18 carat gold, papier mâché, Paris circa 1780
The round lidded box is very finely decorated on all sides in polychrome painting and overlaid with clear lacquer. The original tortoise shell lining has been preserved inside. The lid is decorated by a reclining Cupid with a dove. On the bottom of the box, you can see once again the Cupid's quiver filled with arrows.
Profiled golden mounting rings, not clear Parisian stamp, probably Julien Alatarre, 1768-74.
Height: 2,5 cm, diameter: 5 cm
