In outline curved cartouche form with convex-concave chased walls and profiled rims.

The lid and base of polished translucent honey-brown agate slabs. On the walls matching reserves with chiselled shellwork and fine flowers. The delivered pusher is worked as a rocaille.

French import mark "Charancon" for fineness 750 (Tary 173).

Gold boxes in this elegant design were sought-atter collectors' items and were also

frequently given as gifts.
