Description

Flanders, around 1630

The tapestry, executed in wool and Silk, has been preserved with its original frame border. A courtly, oriental wedding ceremony is depicted in a palace setting.

The large-scale, perspective depiction of the room with the elegant wedding party shows the high level of Skill

of the Flemish Goeblin manufactories of the early 17th century, which explains the demand for these works throughout Europe.

Templates by famous artists, so-called cartoons, such as those by Peter Paul Rubens and Jakob Jordeans greatly inspired the manufactories.

337 cm x 455 cm.
