Japan, around 1700

Deeper display plate in excellent condition, painted throughout in the colours of the Imari décor. In the mirror a vase standing in front of a balustrade with a luxuriant bouquet of flowers, on the wide flag in triple repeat red- and blue-ground cartouches with ornamental chrysanthemum blossoms and dragons. The underside of the plate is also painted with a cherry blossom branch, peony and a chrysanthemum. Porcelain with underglazed painting in iron red and cobalt blue and rich gold decoration.
