Johann Kroll, born in Riga, learned since 1779
in the Roentgen workshop. With the permission of
David Roentgen, he later went into business for himself.
and received already 1781 the order from the Mainzer
Electors Friedrich Karl von Erthal for a
Cabinet furniture with built-in clock. A larger
1783-84 he delivered the ensemble to Johannisburg Palace.
The front of the semicircular, three-door body
is achieved by plastically protruding, fluted
Pilaster structured. Setting further elegant accents
the gilded lasts and finely chiselled
Rosettes. The extraordinarily harmonious design
of the half cabinet refers to the origin of the
under the influence of David Roentgen.
