Description

Augsburg, dated 1674

The rare small piece of furniture, solid walnut and partly veneered has recesses and arches surrounded by wavy mouldings on the front side, typical for Augsburg furniture of the late 17th century. The cabinet is decorated with very finely drawn and executed cartilage-like motifs in ivory, dated 1674 in the frieze. Due to these fancy decorations, the furniture was a gem of an art chamber or even an unusually rich furnished doll's house. On the inside, the original Augsburg coloured paper on gold background is preserved. The doors have finely engraved, blued iron fittings as known from large cabinets.

Height: 46,5 cm, width: 44 cm, depth: 15,5 cm
