probably Dresden, mid-18th century

Agate with finely engraved and original gilded fittings and mounts. Both the original snap lock and key are present.

The straight agate corpus with matching curved front and two drawers divided by cambered crossbars stands on gilded paw-shaped feet. The polished top is curved to match the body.

This is a precious showcase piece, an exclusive container in the form of a small chest of drawers in unusually noble, valuable material.

Height 9 cm, width 15 cm, depth 8 cm.
