Meissen around 1723/1724
Very rare octagonal box with bevelled corners and original lid, decorated with varied onglaze colours as well as gold decoration on the wall, Indian flower branches, insects and gold lace border, the lid with two opposite chinoiseries and an unusual as well as rare iron-red vine frieze.
This exceptionally high-quality early box is particularly fine decorated and on the bottom labelled next to the mark with swords "KPM" (“Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur”), a designation that existed only in 1723/24. Another box of this quality is part of the collection of Dr. E. Schneider, Lustheim Castle near Munich, and was formerly part of the collection of the Margraves and Grand Dukes of Baden.
