Large hoop crown - designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel - Neoclassical, Berlin c. 1835
Large hoop formed from curved elements with 12 chandelier arms, richly decorated with carvings of openwork foliage, rosettes and acanthus tendrils, suspended from arched rods on the central shaft, with two concentric crowns at the top. Gilt wood and metal, prismatic hanging. H. approx. 105 cm, Ø approx. 112 cm. - The execution of the chandelier attributed to cabinetmaker Claus August Mencke and Schwitzky, a well-known manufacturer in Berlin. Comparable pieces from 1830 can be found in Berlin in the Knoblauchhaus and in Schloss Glienicke Casino Saal and Roter Saal, see Gert Streidt / Klaus Frahm: Potsdam: Schlösser und Gärten der Hohenzollern. - In very good condition, from an important private collection.
