Description

The detailed worked sculpture of sandstone shows typical characteristics of the soft style of Northern France/the Burgundy. The fine face, the carefully placed plications of the robe and the elegantly curved body ensure a graceful charisma of the statue. Holy George is already been associated with the legend of the dragon killer in the 12th century, who freed the country from evil while fighting the dragon and symbolizes knightly virtues like courage, strength, and bravery. The forearm was added later.

Height 92 cm.
